I am happy to report that Chris has had his knee operation overnight (Aus Time) and is fine and well. He is not allowed to move for three weeks now that will be something to see from a hyperactive motorcycle racer!!!! Now the real work starts (In 3 weeks) and we all wish him well. Updates will be posted as available but you can understand progress will be slow in the early stages.

Excellent news. Perhaps you can keep mentally active with a play station race to while away the hours you are enforced to spend doing nothing.
Enjoy the painkillers, space cadet.

Yeah ... he did look "exquisitely stoned in Barcelona" didn't he. Note the bandage ... he'll still be able to wear his thongs!

yes, well thongs are nice & flat. maybe the bandage will give him a feel for stockings. maybe we'll have to move to rain dancing stockings instead of rain dancing socks. Now would be the time to get him to do anything with those mind altering drugs on board.

I guess a thong in Australia is the name for a sandal (flip-flop), because I don't particularly care to see Chris in the other type of thong ;)

Yeah Bas ... thongs in Aus are flip flops ... and they are Chris' favoured footwear. I don't think I'd like to see him in the other kind of thong either!!

perhaps some of the female ( & some male?????) fans may not be unhappy if he wore the other sort of thongs. But seeing as he has been unable to do much leg work, may have to wait for some tone to come back before he feels he can wear them. Not like you Magoo, what with your biceps & all..............
Hope the recovery is going well

I knew you'd say that Margie. Haven't heard anything but he should be out of hospital soon. It's going to be a long hard slog, but Chris will apply himself as he does to everything he does and he will work really hard at getting fit with full strength and movement again.

Stitches are out ... only 16 as they went in through 8 small holes. Knee drained ... 2 more weeks with no movement or load bearing ... then rehab and physio starts. Chris will work really hard to be fit with full movement as fast as possible ... 6months is the usual recuperation period ... he is hoping to knock a month or two off that.

Get well soon there buddy and take it easy with rehab.

There's a great seafood restaurant down on the waterfront, send someone down if you need to.

I can see Chris lying on the couch with a calendar & black texta, marking off the days until he can stand on his own two feet. Patience, grasshopper.

Tomorrow is "D" day in Barcelona with a visit to the specialist. Lets hope all is well and the rehab program can begin before Chris climbs up the proverbial wall. I will try to keep you all informed.

Sure! Why not! :P
If he wins he's ready to ride the new bike, we just have to make sure his competitors in the Limbo contest are all very old :P

Chris has been given the all clear to commence the long rehab program. Apparently he is currently pain free for the first time since Phillip Island which is a good thing. He will be working on his rehab in Barcelona for four days a week and expects to be there until November this year. A realistic goal at this stage is to be back on the bike in January 2011 for the new season. We all wish him well and hope that everything is fine in the long term.
